STATEMENT OF INTENTIONS (EXPLAINING MORE DETAILED MY IDEA SUPPORTING IT WITH MOOWBOARDS)

After conducting research and planning for my music video, I decided to create a visual concept music video. The story does not specifically illustrate the narrative, but I will employ some traditional codes and conventions referenced from other media texts, as well as props, to depict the ideology of the song and the lyrics. The lyrics convey the artist's emotions when they are preoccupied with thoughts of a person who does not reciprocate their love. Therefore, the theme of the music video will revolve around the artist's efforts to let go of their past relationship and transform into a confident, self-sufficient, and prosperous woman who feels no remorse.

To effectively convey how my artist is consumed by thoughts of a particular person, I plan to utilize various indoor and outdoor locations in the music video. The scenes will take place predominantly at night, as research shows that overthinking often occurs during this time. When we're busy during the day, we don't always have the time to process and make sense of the events that have happened. It's only at night, when we have some downtime, that our brains have the opportunity to process and evaluate these experiences. As a result, I hope that the combination of the nighttime setting and the diverse locations will create a visually captivating and emotionally resonant music video. I am planning to include several locations in my music video, such as a bedroom, dinner table, house parking, maze, bathroom, and a black background. I believe that these varied settings will enhance the aesthetic of the song, and keep my target audience engaged and excited while watching the video. The soothing quality of the song, combined with the diverse locations featured in the video, is sure to captivate and hold the interest of viewers. By doing this, I hope to create a relatable experience for my target audience, many of whom may be going through heartbreak or struggling with overthinking. The absence of a linear storyline allows viewers to connect with the emotions conveyed in the video, and possibly even reflect on their own experiences.

The repetition of the lyrics "Thinkin about you" provides an opportunity to showcase the theme of overthinking in the music video. To achieve this, I plan to incorporate interesting editing effects, such as overlapping images and unfocusing the camera, to create a visual representation of the artist's thought process. However, given that the album's overall theme is self-discovery and love, I also want to break away from the confines of the lyrics and employ visual elements that communicate the message of the artist's journey towards independence despite missing this person. By incorporating these visual elements, I aim to create a well-rounded music video that resonates with the target audience and effectively conveys the artist's message.

To enhance the visual impact of my music video, I plan to incorporate conventions from the romance movie and R&B music video genres, such as showcasing expensive items and shiny jewelry to present the artist in a luxurious and sensual manner. However, I am aware of the potential confusion that may arise from using certain genre conventions, such as the use of red lighting and references to the horror genre. To prevent any confusion, I will instruct the actress to use appropriate facial expressions that convey the intended concept and purpose of the music video.

Furthermore, I plan to incorporate a full aesthetic and K-pop music video vibe, using different costumes, makeup looks, hairstyles, and luxurious props throughout the video to represent my artist's independent and self-made persona. To strengthen the connection between the music video and my artist's social media accounts and digipak case, I will integrate them as much as possible.

In conclusion, I am excited to improve my technical and practical skills throughout this coursework. As someone who enjoys being creative, editing, styling, and filming, I am eager to push my boundaries and achieve my ambitious goals. Overall, I am looking forward to a fun and fulfilling experience.
